Growing up, I was blessed with two amazing parents and a great family that loved and supported me. Although, I still had my obstacles in life. From the ages of 2-6, I dealt with sexual abuse, which caused me to develop a stress immune disorder called cyclic vomiting. This immune disorder is when under immense stress, your body uncontrollably vomits for days until your completely dehydrated. I had spent countless days in and out of the hospital bed until my 21st birthday. I went through a lot of healing and soul searching to become the woman I am today and overcome my condition. By practicing and implementing tools from the 12 step program, yoga, meditation, deep breathing techniques, and other forms of therapy, I grew and conquered my feelings of depression and stress. I haven’t been in the hospital since.
I moved to NYC to pursue my dreams of modeling at the age of 18, which also helped build my confidence and gave me a platform to inspire others. Overcoming depression and anxiety and gaining the confidence to move to NY at such a young age and make opportunities for myself inspired me to go back to my hometown in Charlotte, NC, and give that same motivation to other young adults. I started a youth mentorship modeling program at the age of 19, where I passionately helped young adults build self-esteem, gaining confidence through conversation, movement classes, and fitness training. In addition, I organized photoshoots and events where these young adults had the chance to socialize and build a community and showcase their talents. Project Hue became a very successful venture for me, which also became overwhelming many responsibilities at a very young age. So, I decided to return to NYC to focus on my modeling career. Seeing that my efforts could make a difference in so many people’s lives was indeed one of the most rewarding achievements of my life. That experience and feeling of really helping is something I have so yearned to get back. So, I have decided to dedicate my life to psychology, mindfulness, and motivating others. I’m currently a psychology student working towards one day obtaining my Ph.D. In the meantime, my goal is to dedicate my time to A Safe Space Mentorship for people to come and work through their life obstacles with me as their mentor and friend. I am not perfect and do not know everything and probably never will, which is why I’m building this community to learn, grow, and share with you on this platform and hopefully in person what I have gained on my journey along the way.
We will build your self-esteem by assessing where your insecurities are centered and how they developed. We will go into conversation on how these feelings have impacted your life. We will be eliminating these perceptions of self-doubt or lack of confidence. We will create a list of goals and ways to achieve these goals effectively. We will practice gratitude activities, visualization techniques, and meditation. A Safe Space will put together a personalized plan of action for your next steps to a secure future. We will also use a unique technique with photography and modeling to implement expression and movement to build confidence.
We will find out your attachment style and build healthy attachment styles to build effective and healthy relationships. We will work on this by setting an agenda for productivity, working on crucial techniques from the 12 step program (CODA) to mend relationships, and setting up interventions to heal the past and plan for the future.
We will discuss when your feelings of stress and depression started, how you’re feeling in the present, and what you’re currently doing to maintain these feelings. Next, we will go over what works for your life and what doesn’t. Then, we will put together a personalized plan that works, using techniques that will allow you to start bringing more positivity and alignment into your life. We will use breathing techniques, meditation, peer mentorship guidance, journaling, and creative activities as a way to overcome or maintain your depression and move into your new life stress-free.
We will discuss your and your partner’s love languages and appreciate the differences and balance each partner brings to the relationship. We will discuss relationship goals for the future, healthy boundaries and communication styles, gratitude exercises, and couple activities. We will put together an agenda for you and your partner to bring new experiences and memories to the relationship. Finally, we will practice problem-solving techniques to keep your relationship headed towards a long and healthy future and friendship.
